The Lagos-based side secured promotion from the Nigeria National League after playing out a 1-1 draw against Smart City FC in their penultimate game of the season.

The result confirmed Inter Lagos as one of the teams to earn promotion, marking a significant milestone in the club’s short history.

Founded in 2023, Inter Lagos’ rapid ascent has been widely regarded as extraordinary.

The club bounced back from a difficult debut campaign—where they lost their opening five matches—to emerge as one of the top sides in their conference and seal promotion with a game to spare.

Reacting to the achievement, Vigo expressed deep gratitude and disbelief in an emotional social media post, highlighting how far the club has come in such a short time.

“Thank you, Jesus! Inter Lagos is now a Premier League team. From Babani Street to owning a team in the Nigerian top flight—it’s unbelievable,” he said.

“I’m honestly short of words. I want to thank everyone who has supported this journey.”

Vigo further reflected on the club’s humble beginnings, describing the promotion as a dream come true while setting sights on competing strongly in the elite division.

“We remember the first day we started this football club. It’s been an incredible journey. We want to bring good football to the NPFL, enjoy the experience, and most importantly, survive at this level,” he added.

Inter Lagos will make their debut in the NPFL during the 2026/27 season, alongside Ikorodu City FC.

Their promotion also signals the return of top-flight Lagos derbies for the first time in over a decade, adding renewed excitement to the domestic football scene.
