Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until next summer.
The 33-year-old was out of contract at the end of this season and looked to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door under former head coach Ruben Amorim.
But the appointment of Michael Carrick as manager until the end of the season breathed new life into Maguire’s United career and now the club have moved to tie him down to a new contract.
The new deal runs until June 2027 with the option for a further year included.
Maguire, who has made 266 appearances since joining the club from Leicester in 2019, said: ‘Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.
