The former Chelsea boss has taken to social media to provide an update three months on from his Chelsea exit
Enzo Maresca has posted on social media for the first time since his goodbye message to Chelsea, ending a three-month silence. The manager has also sent a hint that he could be looking to return to the dugout soon
The former Chelsea boss left the club on New Year’s Day and was replaced by Liam Rosenior. Almost a week later, he posted a goodbye message on his official Instagram account, but has since remained silent.
Three months to the day of that message, the Italian posted again. Sharing pictures from a family holiday with his wife and four children in the Maldives, Maresca wrote: “Enjoying the half term…Time to recharge!”

The post was ‘liked’ by Chelsea trio Robert Sanchez, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill.
The fourth of six pictures shared shows his desk with stationery and football tactics books, hinting that he is continuing to study tactics in possible preparation for a return to management when called upon.
Maresca continues to be linked with a return to Manchester City. The manager is reported to be an option for City as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola, should he leave the club.
He served as both the manager of the club’s development team and Guardiola’s assistant manager. Between 2020 and 2021, and 2022 and 2023.
Maresca’s post comes just a few weeks after he made a rare public appearance since leaving Chelsea. He was seen in the director’s box for Leicester City’s Championship clash against Norwich City at the King Power Stadium.
Assistant managers Willy Cabellero and Danny Walker were also in attendance. All three helped lead the Foxes to promotion from the Championship in the 2023/24 season, before joining Chelsea the following summer.
There had been suggestions that Leicester made an approach to the Italian about the manager position before the interim appointment of Gary Rowett, who has been tasked with saving the club from relegation to the Championship between now and the end of the season.
During his time at Chelsea, Maresca took charge of 92 matches in all competitions, winning 55, drawing 16 and losing 21. He led the club to both the UEFA Conference League title and the Club World Cup, but endured a fractured relationship with the club’s hierarchy.
The decision to part ways with the manager has since been questioned by both Enzo Fernandes and Marc Cucurella.
