Trabzonspor of Turkey striker, Anthony Nwakaeme admitted that the excitement of last weekend’s victory over Galatasaray will take some time before it fades away, but acknowledged they have to quickly turn focus on their next match.

Sports247 gathered that the next Turkish Super Lig game for Nwakaeme and his colleagues from the Trabzon-based outfit will be away to Alanyaspor, and the 37-year-old former Al-Fahya attacker asserted that his team have to maintain their surge.
Trabzonspor, who also feature the Super Eagles’ duo of Paul Ebere Onuachu and Christian Chibuike Nwaiwu, enter this weekend’s fixture standing second on the log, hence the verdict by Nwakaeme that they need to Intensify their efforts.
The former Super Eagles’ invitee, who previously played for several years in Israel, reasoned that last weekend’s 2-1 win against Galatasaray gave his team a better chance of winning the much-desired Turkish title this season.
Trabzonspor made the best of Victor Osimhen’s absence for Gala and, coupled with home advantage, which saw nearly 40,000 partisan fans cheering them on at Papara Park, they went all out against the log leaders from Istanbul.
Their first goal of the game came under four minutes, as Onuachu scored his 22nd of the campaign and thought he had doubled the lead ten minutes later, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Galatasaray pulled level through Wilfried Singo, but Nwaiwu got the back-breaking winning goal in the 62nd minute, when he connected a well-struck free-kick by Nwakaeme, and the defender’s header settled the result at 2-1.
The victory took Trabzonspor just a point behind Galatasaray on the table and Nwakaeme, who played 79 minutes of the game at Papara, believes his team have a big chance of winning the title, with only seven league games left to play.
Nwakaeme told Fanatik, “We’ve been working to win all week. We knew we’d get a lot closer to our opponent if we won. We are very happy for our city and our team. Everyone who didn’t play wanted to win.
“That’s the spirit of being a family. Every game counts. We’ve taken the first and most important step. We’ve got six weeks. We’ll start with Alanyaspor. We’ll go to the game, and we’re gonna try to win every game.”
