Genoa of Italy’s Nigerian-born youngster, Osayuki Jeff Ekhator has gained intense summer transfer attention from his club’s Italian Serie A rivals, Juventus, who are thinking seriously about adding him to their ranks.
Sports247 reports that Juventus, who have a strong tradition of targeting Nigerian players, dating back to the days of Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh and Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi, are eager to renew that link with Ekhator.
Incidentally, their most recent efforts at hooking Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman did not materialize over the past two seasons, but top shots at the Old Lady of Turin believe they can get Ekhator this summer.
A report by Italian publication, La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed, “Juventus are closely monitoring Ekhator ahead of the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old has impressed with his limited chances for Genoa so far this season.
“(After) scoring two Serie A goals in 24 games, five of which have been starts, it’s understood that, while Juventus staff don’t think the striker is ready to make an impact in the first team just yet, he is highly regarded for the future.”
Sports247 gathered that Ekhator’s future prospects are not in doubt, as the lad, who was born to Nigerian parents on November 11th, 2006 in Genoa, Italy, has already made six appearances and scored a goal for the Italian under-19 side.
