Dak Prescott 'confirms split from ex-fiancee' as Cowboys star looks to protect daughters' 'safety' after wedding was called off

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has confirmed his split from ex-fiancee Sarah Jane Ramos and filed a legal petition to protect the ‘safety and welfare’ of his daughters, according to reports.

Prescott and Ramos, both 32, dramatically broke up in March after hosting a joint bachelor-bachelorette party in the Bahamas – just weeks before they were due to get married in Lake Como, Italy.

The wedding was abruptly called off when Ramos reportedly found out that Prescott had been messaging other women from incognito social media accounts.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the pair – who have two young daughters – now find themselves in an ’emotional mess’ as they struggle ‘to grasp what has happened.’

Prescott has yet to discuss the split in public, while Ramos has posted online but not addressed the situation directly. On Sunday, however, US Weekly reported that the Cowboys quarterback last month filed custody documents in Texas.

The couple have reportedly agreed to amicably negotiate a temporary custody arrangement and the petition – filed on March 17 – pushes for joint custody to ensure ‘the best interest’ of two-year-old Margaret Jane and 11-month-old Aurora.

‘The parents of the children are separated. The appointment of the parents as joint managing conservators would be in the best interest of the children,’ court documents, obtained by Us Weekly, read.

It is reported that the order would ensure neither Prescott nor Ramos – who began dating in 2023 before getting engaged in October 2024 – could take their children out of Texas without written permission from the other.

According to US Weekly, meanwhile, the quarterback is also asking that the former couple avoids any communication involving ‘vulgar, profane, obscene or indecent language.’

The documents, as quoted in the report, read: ‘It is in the best interest of the children that [Prescott and Ramos] be appointed joint managing conservators of the children.’

Prescott has also reportedly asked the court to ‘make temporary orders’ to ensure his kids’ ‘safety and welfare’ moving forward.

According to US Weekly, the order would also require Ramos to keep any documents or electronic data that are relevant to the case.

Prescott and Ramos were reportedly given 30 days – after the motion was filed – to produce evidence of their ability to pay child support.

‘The parties are encouraged to settle their disputes amicably without court intervention,’ the documents conclude, per US Weekly. ‘The parties are encouraged to use alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to resolve conflicts that may arise in this lawsuit.’

Earlier this month, a source close to the former couple revealed that both Prescott and Ramos are still struggling ‘to grasp what has happened’.

‘For Dak and Sarah, everything feels a bit surreal,’ the source said. ‘They’re both still processing the emotions of what was supposed to be their wedding just days away.

‘Friends who planned to be there are still reaching out – and, with kids involved, they can’t simply separate. They still have to face each other.

‘They’re in the thick of it all, not yet fully able to grasp what’s happened and they haven’t even had the space to really cry or begin working through it.

‘They are doing everything else to not focus on their relationship fully being over. They are holding up OK, but they have yet to fully deal with it all head on.’

Our source continued: ‘Friends of Dak and Sarah are hoping they face this dilemma head on, because the longer they stretch it out, it is not going to be something beneficial for them or their kids. And that is who it is about right now, their kids.

‘They are taking it day by day, but the next few days, especially as we get closer to what would have been their wedding, is going to be rough.

‘Whether they show it and wear their hearts on their sleeves is unknown. Some time still needs to pass for this to be less emotional than what it is currently.’
