Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has received a massive shower of praise for his unflinching support for the annual Easter grassroots football competition known as Arise Cup, Sports247 reports.

The organisers, Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF), Akwa Ibom State chapter, also thanked the governor for fully supporting this year’s edition of the competition officially tagged Pastor Umo Eno Easter Unity Cup.
The chairman of GRASOF in Akwa Ibom State, Comrade Ita Peters enthused that the competition, which is named in honour of the governor, has become a major avenue to discover talented footballers in the state.
Comrade Peters disclosed further that it has been a very wonderful experience for five years and expressed profound gratitude to Governor Eno for his unwavering support of the annual contest.
With the competition now in its fifth year, Peters stated ahead of the final on Easter Monday that the story has been one of success all the way, then firmly acknowledged the governor’s support for youth-oriented programmes generally.
He added that the 5th Pastor Umo Eno Easter Unity Cup provided an even stronger platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, express different skills, gain exposure and secure opportunities for career development.
The grassroots football buff also pointed out that the competition has grown in popularity since its inception in 2022, as clubs from seven different states turned up for this year’s edition.
“We thank His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, for always supporting our efforts to develop sports in Akwa Ibom State. His commitment to empowering youths is truly commendable,” Peters submitted.
