The final four European places at this summer’s World Cup in North America will be decided tonight with all four play-off finals kicking off simultaneously at 7:45pm.

Four-time world champions Italy are no doubt the biggest European nation still looking to book their ticket to Canada, the USA and Mexico, and their 2-0 home win over Northern Ireland on Thursday night has set up a one legged final away against Bosnia, who beat Wales on penalties in their semi final.

Sweden booked their place in tonight’s final with a 3-1 win against Ukraine courtesy of a Viktor Gyokeres hat trick and will take on a Poland in Stockholm who edged out Albania 2-1 in their last four clash in Warsaw.

Turkey got the better of Romania on Thursday in their semi final to book their ticket to Pristina tonight, where they will take on a Kosovo side who upset the odds to win in Slovakia last week as they seek a first ever World Cup appearance.

The final path sees Denmark, who hammered North Macedonia 4-0 on Thursday, welcome a Czech Republic side to Copenhagen who needed a penalty shoot out to get past the Republic of Ireland.

As well as the World Cup play-off finals taking place, all five home nations from the British Isles are also in friendly action tonight for the final time before June.

England welcome Japan to Wembley for their final game before they depart for the USA for this summer’s World Cup, with record goal scorer and captain Harry Kane in the form his life this season, having bagged 48 goals in 40 matches for Bayern Munich, 10 more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

Troy Parrott was Ireland’s miracle maker in the November international break, scoring both goals in their 2-0 win over Portugal and a hat trick in Budapest to take Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side into the play-offs in the search of a first World Cup appearance in 24 years.

The AZ Alkmaar striker also netted the first goal in their play-off semi final in Prague on Thursday but his side were defeated on penalties, leaving them to face off tonight in Dublin against fellow beaten semi finalists North Macedonia.
