Sam Kerr has seemingly debunked a rumour she will return to the NWSL, claiming the media somehow ‘know a decision’ before her.
According to Australian outlet Channel 10, Kerr will join NWSL newcomers Denver Summit when her contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the 2025/26 season.

However, in a post on Snapchat, Kerr tried to put worried Blues supporters at ease.
Kerr responds to rumours
“Don’t believe everything you read in the media man, they know a decision before me,” Kerr posted alongside two laughing and two skull emojis.
But should the move come to fruition, Kerr would be joining a club that rewrote NWSL history in its first-ever home match.
The Summit’s 0-0 draw against Washington Spirit was watched by a staggering 63,004 fans at Empower Field in Denver last Saturday.
Thanks to the strong turnout, the Summit shattered the previous NWSL attendance record.
The previous benchmark was set just last season when 40,091 supporters watched Bay FC against the Spirit at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
Why could Kerr join Denver Summit?
Kerr’s mooted arrival would represent a major coup for the Summit, who count NFL legend Peyton Manning and three-time Olympic skiing gold medallist Mikaela Shiffrin among its ownership group.
It would also mark a return to America for Kerr having previously played for the Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC and Chicago Red Stars prior to joining Chelsea in November 2019.
Another factor behind the mooted move is that Kerr’s wife, Kristie Mewis, is from the US.

The 32-year-old has been a revelation for the Blues, helping them land five WSL titles and three FA Cups.

Kerr has also scooped up a bagful of individual accolades during her time at Chelsea, including the WSL Player of the Season gong in 2021/22.
She also notched the WSL’s Golden Boot in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns thanks to hauls of 21 and 20 goals respectively.
The Australian superstar’s brilliant form in front of goal helped her place second in the Ballon d’Or Feminin rankings in 2023 along with third-place finishes in 2021 and 2022.
Kerr’s Euro heartbreak
However, Kerr will unfortunately end her time with the Blues without a Women’s Champions League trophy.
Sonia Bompastor’s side was knocked out of the competition on Wednesday after a 3-2 loss on aggregate to English rivals Arsenal.
It was a contest riddled with controversy as Gunners star Katie McCabe escaped a red card despite pulling the hair of Chelsea flyer Alyssa Thompson.

Blues boss Bompastor was incensed by the lack of punishment for McCabe, so much so that she was sent off for her protests.
Bompastor even played footage of McCabe’s act during a post-match interview and questioned why VAR didn’t intervene.
