Leeds United of England attacker, Lukas Okechukwu Nmecha is thinking big ahead of his team’s English FA Cup quarter-finals clash with West Ham United, as he knows winning the game would mean playing next at Wembley Stadium.

Sports247 reports that the Nigerian-born attacker, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, but relocated to England as a child with his family, confessed that he would be truly delighted should his team move on to play at Wembley.
Nmecha, who was discovered by Manchester City during a youth football tournament with his primary school team in Wythenshawe and featured for The Cityzens’ academy for over a decade, is thinking big ahead of Sunday’s game.
He got his senior debut with City in December 2017 during the EFL Cup and scored the third penalty in a shootout win over Leicester City, then got his English Premier League debut on April 29th, 2018, as a late substitute against West Ham.
Nmecha, though, was loaned severally to Preston North End, VfL Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht, then joined Leeds in a free transfer, with an two-year contract on June 15th, 2025.
He acknowledged that victory over The Hammers on Sunday would take him a step closer to reviving the dreams he had for a vibrant career in England, but he ended up with two loan spells at VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and one in Begium.
“I have never played there before. It would be amazing. I think for the fans it would be a good day out as well. We are close, so we might as well try and go all the way. It will be a challenge for them as well.
“I have been happy to an extent. Some things I could have done better, a few chances come to mind now and then but generally with the chances I have had, I think I have done quite well.
“Obviously, I have played that position now for a couple of games which has been fine. I am glad to start the games. I am enjoying my football. I am enjoying the time here – it is really nice to be here,” Nmecha reflected.
Sports247 recalls that, considering he was born in Hamburg to a German mother and a Nigerian father, but raised in England along with his younger brother, Felix, the older Nmecha was eligible to play for Nigeria, Germany and England.
He eventually opted for Germany in March 2019 and debuted for their under-21 squad as a 59th minute substitute during a 2-1 victory over England on March 26th, 2019.
Nmecha scored the only goal that beat Portugal in the 2021 Euro U21 Championship final on June 6th 2021, and was top scorer with four goals, after which he got his senior debut on November 11th, 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.
