Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune is delighted to have Victor Boniface back in his squad, reports Completesports.com.
Boniface suffered a knee injury last December, and underwent surgery earlier this year.
The Nigeria international was initially ruled out for the rest of the season, but is now on course to return for the Greens before the campaign ends.
“First of all, I’m happy to have met him. We had a long talk. He indicated that he wants to help us in our fight to stay in the league,” Thioune was quoted by the club’s official website.
“For me, that offers another option, but not for this weekend. In the coming weeks, we’re playing against teams of similar strength, and if we can give Victor a few minutes of playing time, that could be a big help and a real asset for us.”
Boniface joined the Greens on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The 25-year-old has provided two assists in 11 league appearances for Bremen.
