The transfer window is open and here are all the developments from Daily Mail Sport’s Simon Jones – including Fulham being rebuffed in an approach for a Newcastle star and Forest agreeing a deal for a goalkeeper.
Liverpool hit dead end in Geertruida pursuit
Liverpool’s move for Lutsharel Geertruida is off as it stands.
Sunderland had been hopeful of sourcing a midfielder to replace the Netherlands international and talks were progressing but with targets falling, the deal is now at a standstill.
Liverpool are exploring options after appearing to miss out on 25-year-old, who can play at right-back and centre back and is known to Liverpool boss Arne Slot from their time together at Feyenoord.
Liverpool are still looking at the market but it is increasingly unlikely anything will transpire.
The Netherlands international had been on Liverpool’s radar previously when he was looking for more game time after a frustrating spell with RB Leipzig last season following a £17m move from Feyenoord.
Geertruida has played 17 times in the Premier League this season.

However, there is good news for the Reds…
Liverpool have agreed a £60million package for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet.
The deal is £55m with a further £5m in add-ons for the 20-year-old.
Chelsea have been pushing to sign the France U21 international and were considered favourites but Liverpool are closing on agreement with the player.
A deal is still to be finalised but is tipped in Liverpool’s favour.
Jacquet recognises he could have a greater chance of playing first team football with the Premier League champions but will stay with Rennes for the rest of the season.
The deal was the preference of Rennes who did not wish to lose the young defender in this window, allowing them to replace him at the end of the season.
Toffees to loan Chelsea star after Grealish injury
Chelsea have agreed a loan deal to send Tyrique George to Everton with an option to buy this summer included.
David Moyes’ side accelerated their interest in the versatile 19-year-old after Jack Grealish‘s injury, and are now set to beat off competition from others including Sunderland for the talented teenager from the Cobham conveyor belt.
George is predominantly seen as a winger who can operate on either flank, but he has also been used as a striker by Chelsea.
George scored some important goals for the Blues – not least towards the end of last season in a 2-1 Premier League win at Fulham which helped Chelsea towards securing Champions League football for the following campaign.
He nearly left Chelsea for Fulham in the summer as a £22million move was agreed, only for it to fall through on deadline day.
He struggled for meaningful game time after staying this season – first under Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior – and was looking to kick on in his career.
While he had options abroad, mainly from clubs in Spain and Italy and also with an enquiry leading from Benfica in Portugal, Everton have now struck a breakthrough to bring in George.
Cottagers launch £30m bid for new striker
Fulham have made an improved £30million bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi.
The Cottagers have been dogged in their pursuit of the USA international who is back training after having surgery on a fractured arm.
PSV have been holding out for a greater fee and wanted to find a replacement before letting the 22-year-old leave. That may yet scupper Fulham’s plans.
Forest enquire over Germany international
Nottingham Forest have made an enquiry for Fiorentina left wing-back Robin Gosens.
The 31-year-old has 24 caps for Germany and was a target for Forest two years ago.
Palace make breakthrough in Strand Larsen pursuit
Wolves have accepted Crystal Palace’s latest bid for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The offer is £43million guaranteed plus £5m in add-ons.
Wolves are in talks to sign striker Adam Armstrong from Southampton for £9m.
Jean-Philippe Mateta is poised to leave Palace for AC Milan once final details are sorted.
Larsen will have his Palace medical later today. The Norway international has agreed a four and a half year contract plus a year’s option.

Forest snap up goalkeeper
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of goalkeeper Stefan Ortega from Manchester City.
The deal buys the German out of the last six months of his City contract for a fee that could reach £500,000.
Ortega underwent a medical with Forest and has signed a short-term contract until the summer.
Forest’s head of football, Edu Gaspar, said: ‘Stefan arrives here with fantastic experience and a winning mentality, having been part of such a successful team for the past few seasons.
‘When it became clear the goalkeeper position was somewhere we needed to address, Stefan stood out straight away. He will provide great competition for our group of goalkeepers, and will help the team on and off the pitch.’
Norwich approach rebuffed by Rennes
Norwich City have had an offer rejected for Rennes midfielder Glen Kamara.
The Championship side were offering a loan with option to buy for the Finland international and former Rangers star but Rennes president Arnaud Pouille has intervened to block the move.
The 30-year-old is now expected to be in Rennes’s squad to face Marseille on Tuesday.
Celtic reject Forest bid
Nottingham Forest have had a £14million offer rejected for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels. Forest have turned to the versatile Belgian after Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi stalled on a move to the Premier League.
Celtic do not want to sell a player key to Martin O’Neill’s plans.
Hermansen in high demand
West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen may have interest from Besiktas but the Denmark U21 international is also wanted back at his former club Leicester City.
The Foxes want a loan but West Ham need to get a keeper in first.
Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky is one they have been pursuing.
Saint-Maximin quits Club America
Former Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin had drawn attention from a number of English clubs in recent days as he is leaving Club America in Mexico following an incident where his children were allegedly subjected to racist abuse.
The 28-year-old, however, looks increasingly likely to join French side Lens.
Talks are advancing today.
Toffees defender seals loan move
Everton defender Eli Campbell is joining Port Vale on loan.
The England U20 centre back, who can also play left-back, faces a tough five months with Vale bottom of League Two – though they did beat Leyton Orient 1-0 yesterday.

Southampton striker Adam Armstrong is to have his medical at Wolves tomorrow after the clubs agreed on a £9m deal.

Reds youngster heads to Cardiff
Liverpool defender Calum Scanlon has joined Cardiff City on loan.
The 20-year-old left-back said: ‘It’s a brilliant feeling. I know it’s a massive club performing well at the moment, so it’s a privilege to be here and I can’t wait to get working.
‘I attended a game here last year when we played Huddersfield Town, and the fans were amazing. They really support the team, it’s a good setup here and I think one of the reasons for that success as well is how much the fans are behind the players. I think that’s a big thing, and I can’t wait to meet them at the games.’
Clarets weigh up Kalvin Phillips move
Burnley had explored a deal for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips but that looks unlikely now.
Wolves also showed interest but are progressing in talks for Angel Gomes.
Black Cats bolster goalkeeping ranks
Sunderland have announced a deal to sign Swedish goalkeeper Melker Ellborg, subject to international clearance.
The Black Cats will pay £3.4million for the 22-year-old from Malmo.
Ellborg’s arrival allows Anthony Patterson to join Millwall.
Patterson completed his Millwall medical on Saturday night and is set to join on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, former Sunderland winger Tommy Watson’s loan to Millwall from Brighton is also agreed.
Brentford considering Onyeka offer
Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka is mulling over his offer from Coventry City.
The Championship promotion contenders have chased the Nigeria international most of the month and are close to finalising a deal with Brentford.
Birmingham City and Sheffield United are among others who are interested.
Brentford want a loan with obligation to buy on promotion.

Baggies close to bagging Price
West Bromwich Albion are poised to appoint former Liverpool analyst Dominic Price as their new technical director.
The 35-year-old was appointed as Maccabi Tel Aviv’s technical director three years ago alongside then manager Robbie Keane. He has also worked in the Championship previously with Blackpool.
Price is coming in as part of the restructuring of the football side of the club undertaken by sporting director Andrew Nestor.
Nestor, recently appointed president to go alongside his sporting director title, is expected to depart The Hawthorns having arrived as a close confidant of chairman and owner Shilen Patel.
It is understood Nestor’s long-term view for the club is no longer aligned with that of the Albion board.
Sarr to return to Chelsea
Mamadou Sarr will return to Chelsea from his loan at Strasbourg tomorrow ahead of becoming part of Liam Rosenior’s first team squad.
The 20-year-old will be replaced at Strasbourg by Aaron Anselmino who was recalled from his loan at Borussia Dortmund last weekend.
Anselmino had interest from English clubs plus Dortmund but his agent Diego Merino had talks with Chelsea yesterday and the Argentine is heading to France for his medical and to complete formalities today.
Wolves in the market
Wolves are continuing talks over a loan deal for Marseille’s England international midfielder Angel Gomes.
The 25-year-old is preparing to travel to England with the possibility the deal can become permanent for £6m in the summer.
Gomes joined Marseille on a free in the summer but has struggled for game time.
Wolves have also been in discussions over the possibility of adding Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.
Besiktas, who hit an impasse in talks with Wolves over a £15m deal for defender Emmanuel Agbadou, have asked about Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare.
Mateta frustrated by delay to AC Milan move
Jean-Philippe Mateta expressed his frustration last night after his move to AC Milan was held up as Crystal Palace try to secure a replacement.
The 28-year-old was waiting for permission to fly from London to Italy and have a medical ahead of sign a three-and-a-half-year contract for Milan.
The striker posted a frustrated emoji on his Instagram on Saturday evening as he waits for his move to be given the green light.
Palace are still trying to sign Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen. They had agreed a fee of £45m plus £5m in add-ons but the structure of payments caused a sticking point.
Leeds remain interested in Strand Larsen but will not go above £40m to sign him at this stage.

West Ham departure?
Besiktas have asked about West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
The 25-year-old was signed from Leicester City for £20m last summer but has struggled for form and has not been favoured by Nuno Espírito Santo, however, he did start in their FA Cup win over QPR. He has made just five appearances overall and Besiktas are asking for a loan with option to buy.
City teen joins Juventus
Manchester City youngster Justin Oboavwoduo has posted a farewell to the club ahead of joining Juventus.
The 19-year-old forward, who can play on the wing or behind the striker, has been at City since he was eight and won the FA Youth Cup in 2024.
He was included in the City squad that travelled to Saudi Arabia to play in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
An England U20 international, he has signed for Juventus until 2029, with competition ahead of him fierce for his position in City’s first team.
Oboavwoduo took to Instagram to say: ‘My journey at @ManCity has come to an end. Beyond grateful for the experiences I’ve had which I’ll cherish for life I wish all the players and staff the best of luck in the future.’
AC Milan on verge of signing Chelsea youngster
One player Milan are signing is Chelsea’s teenage midfielder Yahya Idrissi Regragui. The 18-year-old Morocco youth international travelled to Italy yesterday.
Milan have also made an approach for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi who remains on West Ham’s list of targets. The Hammers have bid around £12.5m for Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis which has still to be rejected.
Liverpool attentive over Jacquet as Chelsea push to seal deal
Liverpool remain attentive to discussions over the sale of Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet.
Chelsea are pushing to get a deal done for the 20-year-old centre back this weekend though his club don’t want to lose him in this window.
Rennes would agree a transfer now for the summer and that would suit Liverpool.
Chelsea have had one offer rejected and are reluctant to match the £56miion valuation but are aware of Liverpool’s interest.
Liverpool have been approached by a number of agents over defensive reinforcements, notably right-backs, ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Everton and Sunderland compete for George
Everton have asked to take Chelsea forward Tyrique George on loan with an option to buy.
Asked if he was confident of adding a signing, manager David Moyes said: ‘Yes I do [think there’s a chance]. But don’t have a big headline saying he thinks it’s coming because it might not and then we disappoint people.’
Sunderland have also lodged their interest.
Another Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has interest from Auxerre and Real Mallorca.

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth £500,000 for Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. The 33-year-old has agreed a six month contract.

Sunderland land Malmo goalkeeper
Sunderland have agreed a £3.4million deal for Malmo goalkeeper Melker Ellborg.
The 22-year-old Swede is travelling to the north East to undergo a medical over the next 24 hours.
Ellborg’s arrival will allow Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson to join Millwall.
Sunderland attacking midfielder Adil Aouchiche is a target for German side Schalke.
The 23-year-old is on loan at Aberdeen, who also have an option to buy the player. He was left out of the squad for Saturday’s match at Kilmarnock as talks advance.

Fulham have enquired after Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock but were told he is not for sale.
Leicester City and Birmingham City are two of six Championship clubs that have made enquiries to Newcastle regarding defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Leicester City are signing Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo, 29, on loan until the end of the season.
The Foxes are also in talks with Manchester City for attacking midfielder Divine Mukasa, 18.
Norwich set to land £3m forward
Norwich City have agreed a deal worth around £3million for Randers FC striker Mohamed Toure.
The Championship club will pay an initial £2.6m fee, with £400,000 worth of add-ons to the Danish Superliga side.
