There has been a wall of silence around Ben White and his walkout from England’s World Cup camp at Qatar in 2022.
White went home shortly before the Three Lions faced Senegal in the round of 16 with ‘personal reasons’ being cited.

Since then there has been whispers of a fallout with then assistant coach Steve Holland over comments made in front of other members of the squad.
White, Holland nor then England boss Gareth Southgate have publicly spoken about the events surrounding his exit from the World Cup camp.
That discussion has been brought back to the fore after he was recalled by Thomas Tuchel – with White scoring, and being booed, against Uruguay on Friday night.
Tuchel has said that White will also hold clear the air talks with the England squad over his World Cup walkout.
Why did Ben White leave?
eSPORTY host Adrian Durham called for the Arsenal defender to tell the truth on what happened and criticised his recall.
Explaining the speculation surrounding his World Cup departure, Durham said: “Now I’m going to give you what the speculation is and I don’t really care if people don’t like me saying it. I genuinely don’t care.
“This is what I’m led to understand has happened with Ben White. The players were told to watch videos of opponents and they were given videos on their laptops, iPads, whatever it was.
“He decided not to and the England analysts knew, because they had the tech, who had and who hadn’t watched the videos.
“When asked about it, Ben White got really upset about it to the point where he quit England.
“If that is true, why on earth would Thomas Tuchel want him back in the squad when he’s not prepared to put the hard yards in to be as good as he possibly can against the opponents England are up against.

“If it’s not true, I apologise, but let’s have the flipping truth.”
Did White refuse to watch analysis?
White left shortly before England faced Senegal in the last-16, knowing a win would see them face either France or Poland in the quarter-finals.
The Three Lions went on to lose to France, with Olivier Giroud scoring the winner for Les Bleus.
Former England right-back Danny Mills joined Sunday Edition on eSPORTY alongside Henry Winter and Shaun Custis to speak about White’s recall.
Mills hinted there was an issue surrounding analysis and preparation for a possible tie with France later in the tournament.
He said: “I’m a good friend of Gareth, but I’m not going to betray any sort of confidence in any way, shape or form, but I’ll let people and yourselves read between the lines.

“You’ve both been in the media and football for forever. There has been no story that has ever come out of the World Cup when Ben White left to say that Gareth did something wrong or Steve Holland did something wrong.
“There is no way on this planet in four years that if there was a big story that would have not come out because a player would have told an agent, a friend, that somebody would know and that story would be out there.
“So first and foremost, there is no story as opposed to a member of staff mistreating the player in that way.
“Now, let’s flip it the other way around. Ben White needs to explain why he walked out of an England camp in a World Cup.
“I don’t understand why no one has asked the question, why nobody seems brave enough to ask that question.”
Custis interjected and said that people have been trying to ask the question.
Mills continued: “Well, ask it again, keep asking, it’s as simple as that.
“If I was in the England squad and I was asked to do a certain job, and I was asked to go and look at some tactical analysis or I was asked to look at something, and I didn’t do that I was then pulled up on that.

“Why should I have an incident? I was asked to do a job, but I didn’t do that. One, that’s disrespectful.
“So if I was asked to pick up Olivier Giroud from a corner and I went, ‘you know what, I’m not doing that, I’m not looking at his movement, I’m not going to see what he does. No, I’m not doing it.’
“I’m sorry, but I would expect the manager of the coaching team, the staff, to come down on me like a ton of bricks and absolutely give it to me both barrels.
“I would then expect the team to give it to me both barrels if I’m not prepared to do my job. Get out and if Ben White doesn’t want to come out and say that then that’s on him.
“You’ve got to explain why you did not want to play for England. If you don’t want to do your job, that’s fine by me, I’ve got no issue.
“If you don’t want to play for England, that’s fine but come out and be brave enough and be bold enough to say why you don’t want to do that.”
White will be in the England squad for Tuesday’s clash with Japan at Wembley – with commentary live on eSPORTY.
