Sports247 reports that Iwobi is in the news for the wrong reason, as the red card he got after jumping on a Jordan opponent during the game in Antalya, Turkey is also trending on social media.

While the Super Eagles settled for a 2-2 draw and emerged winners of the four-nation competition organized by Jordan Football Association (JFA), the biggest highlight of the night came after Iwobi jumped on an opponent who held him back.

The former Arsenal and Everton of England dazzler, who entered Tuesday night’s game as a 59th minute substitute, was sent off just two minutes to final whistle, after his weird reaction, which led to chaos among players of both sides.

With the unusual reaction by former Super Eagles’ skipper, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha’s nephew catching everyone by surprise, football fans took to social media afterwards with a myriad of comments mocking the star’s bizarre conduct.

A report by UK’s Daily Mail noted in part, “He had a day to forget in his side’s friendly against Jordan when he was sent off in the second-half after coming on as a substitute on the hour mark.

“With the score at 2-2, Iwobi saw red when he took exception to a pull back and jumped on his opponent. Attempting to break, the Fulham man was pulled back by Jordan captain Amer Jamous in an obvious professional foul.

“(Iwobi) didn’t see the funny side of things. When the referee had barely blown his whistle, Iwobi turned and jumped on his opponent, leaping off of the ground and landing on top of him.

“His actions triggered a mass brawl, with players from both sides, including the substitutes, involved in a pushing match. When things had calmed down, Iwobi was given his marching orders in what was a sour end to the game.

“Fans were left stunned by his actions, with one writing on social media: ‘First time I’ll see Alex this way. The guy must have done it several times.’ Another wrote: ‘Wait I can’t believe it’s real.’

“dedo ⚽️@dlicps added, ‘FIGHT BETWEEN NIGERIA AND JORDAN!!! 🇳🇬🇯🇴. Alex Iwobi didn’t like how Amer Jamous tugged him & responded aggressively. Safe to say no one liked that 😅’”
