Tiger Woods’ ex-girlfriend Kristin Smith has issued a statement claiming the golf icon’s DUI arrest and car crash on Friday was ‘deeply unsettling’ and ‘triggering’.
Woods and Smith started dating in November 2016 but had broken up by the time he was arrested for DUI for the first time in May 2017.
While she doesn’t directly name Woods in her post on Instagram, it seems clear that she is referring to the 15-time major winner.
In the post on Sunday, Smith wrote in front of a somber black background: ‘Regarding recent events and my past, I have moved forward and being dragged back into these moments, and untrue narratives is triggering.
‘Beyond that, after traumatic unrelated incidents over the last couple of years, I don’t handle being unexpectedly approached or confrontation well and it can be deeply unsettling for me.
‘Anxiety and fear of my family and me being contacted, watched, or followed, in hopes of provoking a reaction about something that has not involved me for a very long time simply does not get easier.’

Smith was reportedly shopping in a store in Dallas, Texas when she learned that Woods had been arrested in Florida in 2017.
On that occasion, police found him slumped in his car with five drugs in his system, including two painkillers. Smith is said to have been in hysterics over the news.
Woods posted on social media in 2017 that he hadn’t been dating Smith since the end of 2016. It was reported that Woods had an affair with Erica Herman, the manager of his Florida restaurant, during his relationship with Smith.
Before dating Woods, Smith was married to former Dallas Cowboys player Gerald Sensabaugh.
The 42-year-old is also the father of Smith’s 18-year-old son, Isiah, who recently committed to play football for Northern Arizona University.
Smith is not the only ex of Woods who is worried about the golf star after his latest brush with the law. It emerged on Tuesday that he had two loose opioid pills in his pocket when he was arrested on Friday.
In the wake of Woods’ crash, a source revealed to People that Elin Nordegren – who was married to the golf legend for six years and shares children Sam and Charlie with him – wants him to prioritize his ‘health’.
The source told the outlet: ‘The kids are close with Tiger, so of course Elin cares too. She wants him to be well. Both kids are great and love spending time with their dad.

Woods has been dating Vanessa Trump for over a year – their relationship was first reported by the Daily Mail in March 2025 after they started seeing each other around Thanksgiving 2024
‘Elin’s concerned that he had another car crash and got arrested,’ they added.
Woods, 50, was also involved in a car crash in 2021, which shattered his right leg after he was trapped under the vehicle in California. He needed multiple surgeries in order to recover from his injuries.
‘His recovery from the crash [in 2021] in California was brutal. [Elin] just wants him to make the best choices for himself. It’s about his health and being there for the kids,’ the source continued.
Woods is now in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, whose daughter Kai is the eldest grandchild of President Trump.
The Daily Mail revealed on Saturday that Vanessa was waiting for the golf legend when he returned home from the Martin County Public Safety Complex.
‘She’s not happy at all,’ a source told the Daily Mail. ‘She’s both disappointed and a little bit p***ed, if I’m being honest.
‘It’s a definite red flag and she told him that he’s going to get this sorted out, and that she’s going to require that. He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around.’
The pair have been dating since last March, a relationship first revealed by the Daily Mail, but this is the first time she has been thrust into the limelight by one of his many scandals.
