Khadijat Idris Leads Ondo State’s Charge At Governor Diri Wrestling Classics

African champion, Khadijat Idris led the way for Ondo State in their domination of female bouts on Day 6 of the 4th Governor Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa,Bayelsa State, Sports247 reports.

Idris held sway in the women’s 55kg category with victory over Bayelsa State’s Mary Ayeloh, while Delta’s Happiness Soso and Augustine Rhoda of Lagos State settled for bronze medals.

Another competitor from Ondo State, Damola Ojo also retained her title in the women’s 76kg round-robin ties, ahead of Nigerian Army’s Laide Ojo, while bronze medals went to Juliet Ogo of Bayelsa State and Mercy Alison of Abia State.

Bayelsa State won the 62kg category, as Patience Kakanda beat Nigeria Army’s Precious Tieberi in the final, while Rivers State’s Esther Asaolu also retained the women’s 59kg title in another round-robin competition.

Bayelsa’s Patience Opuene got silver, while Waliyat Adeniran of Ondo State and Queen Essien of Nigeria Army took bronze, with Bayelsa State’s Solomon Ulabo winning gold in the men’s 79kg category, ahead of Edo State’s Kpum Ayibasisei.

Rasheed Saliu of Ondo State and Ebisindei Okorie of Dynamite Club secured bronze medals; with Bayelsa’s NewLife Ebikeme winning the 92kg ahead of Edo State’s Perezidei Obaze in the final.
