Newcastle will reportedly give the green light to two Arsenal transfer targets if the asking price is met
Arsenal’s summer business remains somewhat mysterious. There are some known knowns, including a need to sell, and Andre Berta heading up the strategy, which football.london understands has already been discussed.
Regarding who Arsenal might buy, there have been plenty of names circulating. However, unlike in 2023 with Declan Rice and 2025 with the striker profiles of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, specifics are lacking.
Two names which have been mooted include the pair from Newcastle United: Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon. According to The Telegraph, due to the financial situation in the northeast, both could be allowed to leave if the right price is met.

Despite having incredibly rich owners, Premier League regulations continue to have restrictive pressures on the likes of the Magpies. Tonali and Gordon have both been linked to the club as potential targets.
Since Mikel Arteta’s arrival at Arsenal, the club has moved away from almost solely investing in talent from the continent and instead moved for other Premier League players. As recently as last summer, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Eberechi Eze all came in for more than £120million.
Gordon would be the player designed to upgrade the Arsenal left, with both Leandro Trossard, another of Arteta’s English top-flight investments, and Gabriel Martinelli, both struggling to reach the elite level. While Gordon has certainly elevated his levels with Newcastle, some questions remain whether he could become one of the best in the world for his role.
There are fewer question marks over Tonali, who is to many one of the best central midfielders in the top division of English football. Arsenal, however, already have the aforementioned Rice playing in their left eight role, which is likely where Tonali would also play.
Therefore, unless the Italian is happy knowing minutes will not be as easily available, or Arteta is planning on shuffling things around with Rice moving into a deeper role in place of Martin Zubimendi, there are no guarantees here either. Both players would add quality to the team, but some might question whether it is the right place to allocate such sufficient funds.
