
The director-general of National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu has expressed optimism and delight that ‘new hope is being rekindled in Nigerian sports’ through the interest that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is giving the sector.

Sports247 reports that Shaibu, who is also the chief executive officer of the NIS, stated his enthusiasm and optimism about renewed attention for the sector while extending his felicitation to President Tinubu on the occasion of his 74th birthday.
He described President Tinubu as a visionary leader, whose reforms in all aspects of life are steadily reshaping better days ahead for the country, especially in the sporting community, due to his commitment to revitalizing the sector.
Shabiu’s goodwill message, which was contained in a press release by his special assistant media, Ben Ogbemudia, added that President Tinubu sees sports as a tool for youth empowerment, economic development and national unity.
He also commended the president’s bold and strategic approach to governance, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to inspire confidence across key sectors of the economy, while laying a strong foundation for national development.
The immediate past deputy governor of Edo State also reaffirmed his support for the administration, with a pledge of continued cooperation by the NIS in driving programmes that align with the government’s vision for a more prosperous nation.
He noted further that ongoing reforms and renewed attention to sports development under President Tinubu are positioning Nigeria to harness its vast talent potential, while creating opportunities for young people across the country.
