Sports247 reports that many mouths were left agape during penultimate Sunday’s final, as the winning team, Young Stars FC went home with N400,00 plus a trophy, medals and bags of rice, while the runners-up, Sterling City FC got N200,00 plus a set of jerseys.

There were also prizes for individual winners and outstanding performers, with bags of rice going round for many players, among whom were winners of the under-10 category, Super Accurate Football Academy, and runners-up, Sharp Strikers FC.

While many observers wondered about the huge amount of money that the sponsor must have spent in putting all the rewards together, Sulaimon appeared very happy all through the day’s activities and expressed appreciation to everyone present.

He stated his gratitude to all his partners, sponsors, competing teams, special guests, journalists and fans for being part of the final, with all making it a highly successful occasion.

While thanking everyone for their far-reaching support in the competition’s 16th edition, Sulaiman promised to keep on sponsoring and organizing the grassroots championship, even as he promised to stage a bigger and better contest next year.

The roll call of dignitaries present at the final included Mr. Samuel from Digivant Micro Finance Bank; Mr. Olasunkanmi Raheem, supervisor for sports Igando/Ikotun LCDA; and Mr. Sikiru of Pyramid Edge.

Also in attendance were GT Water MD, Otunba Bamidele; former chairman of Lagos State Referees Association, Mr Ade Banjo; and chairman of White Stone Hotel, Otunba Kazeem Bakinson, who supported some of the awards financially.
