National Sports Commission (NSC) director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade’s special assistant media, Kola Daniel has cited infrastructure development among benefits Nigeria would get from hosting the 2031 African Games.

Sports247 that Daniel’s declaration comes ahead of the arrival in Abuja of an African Union (AU) Sports Council inspection team, following the NSC’s conformation of Nigeria’s bid to host the continent in 2031.
Daniel disclosed in a media statement that the high-level visit is scheduled to take place in Abuja next week Monday and Tuesday, thereby marking another phase in Nigeria’s quest to secure hosting rights for the African Games, which will consolidate the nation’s status on the continent.
He added that Nigeria is a strong contender for the rights, as a leading sporting nation on the continent, with a rich history of hosting major international competitions and with ongoing investments in sports development.
The media guru stated, “The delegation comprises senior officials and technical experts responsible for evaluating bidding nations in accordance with established standards for hosting the African Games.
“During the visit, members of the AUSC delegation will assess key sporting facilities, check sports infrastructure and note Nigeria’s overall preparedness.
“The inspection will also provide an opportunity for the country to demonstrate its organizational capacity, technical expertise and commitment to delivering a world-class sporting event.
“Furthermore, hosting the 2031 African Games is expected to stimulate infrastructure development, create economic opportunities and enhance youth participation in sports across the country.”
The special assistant media submitted that hosting the continent’s sports fraternity in 2031 would further help in strengthening Nigeria’s influence within the African community socially, culturally, economically and politically.
