Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is once again at the centre Real Madrid transfer links after revealing where he would like to live in the future
Enzo Fernandez continues to be linked with a transfer to Real Madrid after admitting he would like to live in the Spanish capital. The Chelsea star has regularly been asked about joining Los Blancos in the future, with his latest admission a telling one.
Speaking on a Kick stream with Marcos Giles, he said: “I’d like to experience, I don’t know, live there. I really like Madrid, it reminds me a lot of Buenos Aires.” It was then presented to Fernandez that to experience that he “could go to Getafe, or Rayo Vallecano… there’s also Atletico Madrid.”
Though Real was not directly mentioned, the point being made was quite clear with those on the stream, including Fernandez, smiling after that statement. The 25-year-old has not covered himself in glory over the last few weeks with a particularly concerning statement made after Paris Saint-Germain knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League.
“I don’t know [whether I will leave Chelsea], there are eight games left and the FA Cup,” he said. “There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see.”

On his future again, he added later in the month: “No, honestly, nothing, zero talks. Now we’re focused on Chelsea and what’s left of the last few games this season and then we’ll see after the World Cup.”
Fernandez has also been linked with a move to PSG but joining Real currently seems more likely given their plans to strengthen in midfield. Manchester City star Rodri has also been linked and opened the door to a transfer down the line in a recent interview.
Liam Rosenior was asked for his response to Fernandez’s comments with the Chelsea boss revealing some details of a private conversation between the two.
He said: “I think I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning [last Thursday] before training, not just about his comments, just how he was feeling, how as a team we can improve.
“He’s one of the captains of the club. What I would say is that he made it really, really clear to me how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win, how passionate he is for us to be successful.
“And he also said that in translation and in emotion, things get misconstrued in what he said. So for me, he’s fully committed to this group, he’s fully committed to winning here at this football club.”
Rosenior’s own future has been up for debate as well recently, with the Blues losing four consecutive games before the March international break.
However, it is believed there are no plans for the two to part ways at the end of the season with Rosenior involved in transfer conversations as he and the club prepare for the summer window.
Having Champions League football for next season will almost certainly be a key factor in convincing players to join and Chelsea are in a real fight to obtain that. They currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, one point behind Liverpool and with Brentford and Everton breathing down their necks in seventh and eighth, respectively.
