Which country has won the World Cup the most times?

England are desperate to end their 60 years of hurt this summer by finally getting their hands on the World Cup again.

The Three Lions have famously endured decades of disappointment since Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet trophy back in 1966.

And with the 2026 World Cup coming up thick and fast, the nerves will be building ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s side’s bid for history.

Four years ago, Lionel Messi won the tournament for the first time ever to emulate Argentina icon Diego Maradona, and surely cement his place as the GOAT.

That saw Albiceleste rise up the rankings of nations with the most World Cup wins, and things could be juggled even more in North America this summer…

Which country has won the World Cup the most times?

Brazil remain the most successful men’s team to have won FIFA’s prestigious prize.

La Selecao have lifted the World Cup five times – 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and most recently, in 2002.

They also remain the only nation to have competed in all 21 editions of football’s greatest tournament.

Germany and Italy are both trailing Brazil by one, having each won the World Cup four times.

The Azzurri didn’t have a chance to add to their total four years ago after failing to qualify for Qatar, and they must come through a play-off this year to reach the tournament.
