Kai Rooney suffers devastating blow days after Man United trophy glory

Rooney featured as the young Red Devils side collected some silverware with a 2-0 win over Burnley.

His dad, Wayne, and his mum, Colleen, were in attendance to proudly watch the game at Man United’s training ground, Carrington.

However, not long after the success, Kai announced a huge blow.

The 16-year-old posted on social media to reveal the news that he would not be playing again this season.

He wrote on his Instagram story: “Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season.”

His post included a black-and-white image of himself with his head down, while a red love heart accompanied the caption.

Rooney will now be absent for the rest of Man United’s U16s’ campaign, along with the U18 side too.

He had been promoted up to the U18 set-up due to his form and was part of their Youth Cup squad earlier this month.
