Organised by the Lagos State Football Association under the leadership of Gafar Liameed, the scouting tournament has delivered excitement and high-quality grassroots football since its kickoff on March 26. Eight teams competed across two groups in a unique format that featured 30-minute halves and a no-offside rule, encouraging attacking football and creativity.
In Group A, Klassisch FA emerged as the standout side, finishing unbeaten with seven points from three matches. FC Bethel Sporting followed closely with six points to secure second place, while 36 Lions FC and defending champions SGFC Athletics fell short of qualification.
Group B delivered its own drama, with Broad City FC topping the standings after securing two wins. Ikorodu City FC matched them on six points but settled for second place due to goal difference, while Smart City FC and Mavlon FC exited the competition.
The final fixtures promise a fitting conclusion to an action-packed tournament. FC Bethel Sporting will face Ikorodu City in the third-place playoff at 7:00am, before attention shifts to the headline clash between Broad City and Klassisch FA at 9:00am.
Statistics from the group stage underline the competition’s attacking flair. Across 12 matches, 27 goals were scored, including five stunning free kicks and three penalties converted from five attempts. Only one match ended in a draw, highlighting the competitive edge among the teams.
Individually, Ayomide Bakare of Broad City FC has been the standout performer, leading the scoring chart with four goals, including a memorable hat-trick against Mavlon FC on Matchday1.
With pride, silverware, and potential scouting opportunities on the line, all eyes will be on Surulere as the Jagaban Cup 2026 reaches its grand conclusion.
