FIFA broadcasts World Cup growth plans

FIFA has introduced that it’ll think about a proposal to broaden the 2030 World Cup to 64 groups, eSporty stories.

The 2030 event will mark the one centesimal anniversary of the World Cup and will likely be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay set to host three matches.

The World Cup was elevated from 32 to 48 groups for the 2026 event, which will likely be held within the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

A FIFA spokesperson instructed Reuters, “A proposal to contemplate a 64-team World Cup to have fun the centenary in 2030 was introduced up by a FIFA Council member through the ‘miscellaneous’ agenda merchandise on the FIFA Council assembly on March 5, 2025.”

“The concept was famous, as FIFA is required to look into any proposals from its Council members.”

It’s believed that the suggestion to broaden was made by Ignacio Alonso, a consultant from Uruguay.
