Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has strongly defended José Mourinho in opposition to accusations of racism, calling the claims “a joke” and “baseless.”
Talking on his Obi One Podcast on Wednesday, Mikel, who performed underneath Mourinho at Chelsea, rejected the allegations and insisted that Mourinho will not be a racist.
“For them to label our African dad (Jose Mourinho) a racist, for me, that’s a joke. That’s a joke,” Mikel stated in a video assertion.
He went on to explain Mourinho as somebody who treats everybody equally, questioning the motive behind the accusations.
“That is politics in soccer in Turkey. Jose Mourinho is any person who loves everyone. A phenomenal, stunning human being. The straightest, most simple individual you possibly can ever meet in your life. He says it as it’s.”
Mikel additionally added that Mourinho had handled him, Didier Drogba, and Michael Essien like his personal youngsters.
