Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has criticised the club’s recent problems under coach Enzo Maresca. He believes that if Roman Abramovich was still the boss, Maresca would have lost his job long ago.

Mikel Obi questions Chelsea’s new signings
Mikel, a key player in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League triumph, has also criticised the club’s recent signings. In his view, the new signings are not good enough and have contributed to the team’s poor performances.
So far this season, Chelsea have dropped points in 13 of their 25 league games, losing six and drawing seven. Once considered title contenders, they are now battling for a top four spot.
‘Abramovich won’t be patient’
Chelsea are known for being quick to sack coaches under Abramovich. In an interview with The ObiOne Podcast, Mikel said that in the past, the situation would have been different.
“In the past, this would have been a crisis. The helicopter would have landed by now and the coach would have left. There is nothing to argue about.”
Although Mikel has not called for Maresca to be sacked, he is frustrated by Chelsea’s decline. He believes the club needs better planning to improve results.
Chelsea board backs Maresca
Despite pressure from fans and former players, Chelsea management has decided to back Maresca for now, according to GOAL.
The club still plays in the UEFA Conference League and has a chance of finishing in the Premier League top four. However, Maresca needs to improve its results quickly to allay concerns about its future.
