Brighton took the lead again in the 60th minute when Mitoma scored from a pass by Minteh, becoming the most successful Japanese player in Premier League history. The result was decided in the 76th minute when Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana made a mistake and Georgino Root shot into an empty net.
The defeat leaves United in 13th place, while Brighton moves up to 9th, one step closer to qualification for Europe.
