Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has introduced his retirement from boxing after shedding to Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in December.
In a brief video posted on Instagram, Fury, often called the “Gypsy King,” stated: “I’d prefer to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve cherished each single minute of it, and I’m going to finish with this — Dick Turpin wore a masks!”
The announcement comes simply days after British promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Wembley Stadium had been reserved for a possible battle between Fury and Anthony Joshua.
This isn’t the primary time Fury has retired. The British boxer beforehand stepped away from the game in August 2022, giving up his Ring heavyweight title. Nonetheless, he returned six months later to defeat Derek Chisora.
Fury, a two-time heavyweight world champion, first received the title in 2015 with a memorable victory over Wladimir Klitschko.
