Paul Onuachu ranks last in Puskás Award ranking

On Tuesday, the world football association announced the winners of the 2024 Puskás Award. Argentina national team player Alejandro Garnacho won. The Puskás Award is given to the player who scores the most exciting goal of the year, and Garnacho won the award for his incredible overhead kick against Everton.

A total of 11 players were nominated for the award, one of whom was Paul Onuachu, a striker for the Nigerian Super Eagles. Onuachu’s goal was also considered for the prestigious award. The Nigerian striker scored his nominated goal during his loan spell at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League.

After the votes were counted, Garnacho won with 26 points for his amazing overhead kick. The goal was praised for its technical difficulty and beauty.

However, Onuachu finished last in the voting. He received only four points and ended up at the bottom of the nomination list. Although his goal was not enough to win, Onuachu was still recognized for his contribution to the game.

Although Onuachu did not win the Puskás Award, his nomination is still a significant achievement in his career.
